Transporting Knives Safely: A Complete Guide

Learning how to transport your knives

To learn how to wrap knives for sharpening, start by laying them on a clean kitchen towel or apron. Roll them up tightly, ensuring that the sharp edges are protected by the fabric, and secure the bundle with a rubber band or twine. This knife transport method effectively keeps the blades from damaging each other while being taken to a sharpening service.

The trick, as you’ll see in the animation below, is to choose one of your thicker kitchen towels and fold it so that the tips of the blades press against a double layer of fabric, preventing them from slicing through.

Once all the blades are rolled up, simply tie an elastic band around the bundle for added knife safety during transport, and you can be on your merry way.
